AMMAN — Syrian
President
Bashar Al-Assad received a delegation from the Arab Inter-Parliament
Union on Sunday, which included the Jordanian Lower House Speaker Ahmad
Al-Safadi.

Safadi had
earlier demanded that Syria be welcomed again into the Arab fold.
During his
speech at the 34th Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union conference held in Baghdad,
Safadi called for Syria's return to the Arab League, where it suspended its
membership since the outbreak of the Syrian crisis in 2011.

presidency stated that Safadi conveyed condolences from His Majesty King
Abdullah to
Assad and affirmed Jordan's solidarity with the Syrian people in
their suffering from the earthquake and its readiness to provide all possible
assistance to help Syria overcome the disaster..

and imposed economic sanctions.
