Assad to visit China on official invitation from Xi Jinping

AMMAN — President of Syria Bashar Al-Assad and his wife Asma al-Assad will be visiting China on Thursday, September 21 in response to an official invitation from the President of the People's Republic of China, Xi Jinping. As a permanent member of the United Nations Security Council, China has repeatedly vetoed resolutions on Syria, including several to extend cross-border aid operations into areas outside the Syrian government's control, according to Reuters.
