BRUSSELS —- On Monday,
European Union Foreign Policy Chief, Josep Borrell emphasized the necessity of discussing
concrete plans for a two-state solution, stating that it should involve

During the
EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, Borrell stated that the humanitarian situation in Gaza
could not be worse, affirming that Israel cannot achieve peace solely through
military means and questioned alternative solutions, asking, “Should all
Palestinians be forced to leave? Should they be killed?”
Borrell has extended invitations to
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates
Ayman Safadi, among other Arab foreign ministers, to join talks on Israel’s war on
Gaza during the EU meeting. They, along with Israel's foreign minister and the
head of the Arab League, are invited to discuss broader regional developments,
address the deteriorating humanitarian situation in Gaza, and emphasize the
imperative to prevent the spread of the war in the region. The ministers will
also discuss potential peace plans and the need for tangible steps to revive
the
two-state solution.
Prior to this, Safadi stressed Jordan's
refusal to discuss the day after the war until the aggression ends. He
highlighted the need for a comprehensive plan to address the full rights of the
Palestinian people.
Moreover, in December 2023,
Borrell proposed a set of suggestions, including preventing the forced displacement of
civilians in Gaza and opposing Israel's occupation of the sector. He also
recommended imposing restrictions on extremist settlers in the Occupied West
Bank.
