AMMAN — Iranian and Egyptian authorities plan to resume
direct flights between the two countries in August, according to the Iranian
news agency Tasnim. The Air Travel and Tourism Union announced that the first
group of Iranian tourists will travel to Egypt within the next 45 days, with
the inaugural flight taking off from Tehran to Cairo.

The union further stated that once the consulate is opened,
Iraq will no longer be used as an intermediary country due to increased time
and cost factors, rt Arabic reported.
The chairman of the union's board of directors also revealed
that the Director General of the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism is scheduled to
visit Tehran next week.
Additionally, he stressed that negotiations to enhance
tourism have been conducted with Egypt through the mediation of Iraq,
expressing optimism that the political relations between Tehran and Cairo will
soon improve.
