The Islamic Waqf Department in Jerusalem stated in a statement that dozens of extremist settlers entered the mosque from the Mughrabi Gate and conducted suspicious tours around the courtyards. They performed provocative Jewish rituals in public, guarded by the Israeli police, which assaulted worshippers and forced them away from the path of the settlers' incursions.

The Israeli police also tightened their military measures at the gates of the Old City and the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.
