West Bank — On Tuesday, Dr. Mustafa Barghouti,
Secretary-General of the
Palestinian National Initiative (PNI), issued a
warning against Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant's dangerous threats to
attack Rafah. Over 1.5 million Palestinian refugees have sought refuge in the
area since the
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) forcibly removed them from their
homes.

Dr. Barghouti highlighted that any military actions in that
location would result in horrific atrocities due to the limited space and large
number of displaced people and residents, Jo24 reported.
He also held the US and all Western countries that back Israel
fully responsible for the
escalation of Israeli aggression, which has already
killed and injured over 100,000 Palestinians.
Dr. Barghouti emphasized the importance of escalating global
popular resistance to Israeli aggression in order to prevent the planned attack
on Rafah. He urged the
International Court of Justice (ICJ) to assess the
current situation, citing Israel's flagrant disrespect for its resolutions. A
firm decision to stop the firing and Israeli violence against Palestinian
civilians is required.
Regarding Netanyahu's statements about dismantling
UNRWA and
replacing it with other institutions, Dr. Barghouti stated that this tries to
accomplish Netanyahu's objective, which will never materialize: the eradication
of Palestinian refugees' right of return. According to Dr. Barghouti, Netanyahu
seeks to undermine the agency's role in
organizing humanitarian help for Gaza's
population in order to ethnically cleanse Gazans.
Dr. Barghouti also emphasized the significance of taking
urgent action in reaction to Israel's statements about closing the Rafah border
crossing. This move attempts to entirely isolate Gaza and cut off all border
contacts with Egypt.
He urged for an immediate unification of national ranks to
address all of these risks and put greater public pressure on Israel, the US,
and Britain to impose a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire.
