Abdel-Aty also mentioned that he would request the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) during an emergency ministerial meeting to be held in Jeddah next Friday, to adopt the Gaza reconstruction plan that was recently approved by Arab leaders during an emergency Arab summit on Gaza held in Cairo on Tuesday.
In a press conference, Abdel-Aty stated, "On March 7th, God willing, in Jeddah, there will be an emergency meeting for OIC foreign ministers, and we will seek to adopt this plan so it becomes both an Arab and Islamic plan."
On the 46th day of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, during the Arab emergency summit in Cairo, announced the approval of the Egyptian plan for the reconstruction of Gaza. This came as Hamas welcomed the summit's convening and the Arab stance rejecting displacement.
El-Sisi stressed that "the approval of our plan ensures the Palestinian people’s right to rebuild their homeland and remain on their land," noting that "the brutal war on Gaza aimed to destroy the livelihoods and forced the people of Gaza to choose between extinction and displacement."
Hamas welcomed the Arab summit in Cairo amidst ongoing Israeli aggression and plans for genocide and displacement, considering the summit as marking an advanced phase of Arab and Islamic alignment with the just Palestinian cause.
The movement praised the words of the leaders at the summit, which all emphasized the rejection of Israeli plans to displace the Palestinian people and erase their national cause, calling it a "noble position and a historic message."
Hamas also called for pressure on Israel to start negotiations for the second phase and to proceed with implementing the agreement. It urged Arab countries to continue supporting the resilience of the Palestinian people and to confront the occupying enemy's expansionist ambitions and plans for hegemony at the expense of Palestine and the region's nations and peoples.
On the other hand, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the Arab summit statement, claiming it relied on the Palestinian Authority and UNRWA, both of which it described as "corrupt and supporting terrorism."
Meanwhile, the Israeli occupation continues to prevent humanitarian aid from entering the Gaza Strip for the fourth consecutive day. Israeli Energy Minister, Eli Cohen, stated that Prime Minister Netanyahu will respond to his request and cut off electricity to the Gaza Strip, considering it the first step in a series of other measures.
