CAIRO — The
Forum of Arab Parliamentarians on Population and Development (FAPPD) recently convened in Egypt, in collaboration
with the Egyptian House of Representatives and the
Asian Population and Development Association (APDA), with the backing of the
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The primary focus of the meeting was on the
implementation of recommendations put forth by the FAPPD across various Arab
and Asian nations, utilizing Egypt as a case study, the Jordan News Agency,
Petra reported.
The gathering brought together parliamentary
population committees, including the
Committee for Social Solidarity, Family
and Persons with Disabilities, the Health Committee, the Education and
Scientific Research Committee, the Human Rights Committee, the Environment
Committee, and the Constitutional and Legislative Affairs Committee, the Jordan
News Agency, Petra reported.
Attended by 50 Egyptian parliamentarians, the
meeting also saw the participation of representatives from diverse Egyptian
civil society organizations,
non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and
ministries dedicated to population and development in Egypt.
Throughout the event, a range of crucial
topics related to population and development took center stage. Special
emphasis was placed on the role of the Egyptian House of Representatives in
translating FAPPD recommendations into tangible laws and legislation, geared
towards effective implementation.
