TEL AVIV — Thousands of settlers, along with far-right
ministers and allies of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, participated in a
conference titled, “Settlements Bring Security” in Occupied Jerusalem. During
the event, they called for the rebuilding of Jewish settlements in the Gaza
Strip, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

Before the event on Sunday, Netanyahu had rejected
resettlement in the strip in official statements, stating, “It’s not a
realistic goal.” However, the conference indicates that this once-marginal
position has gained momentum within his far-right government.
Settlement Movement Activist, Daniella Weiss stated that the
conference aims to pressure the government to ‘return to Gaza and establish
communities immediately.’
Speakers at the conference, attended by members of
Netanyahu's party and several other ministers, urged the prime minister to
translate their vision into reality. Meanwhile, some attendees called for the
deportation of Palestinians from Gaza, declaring that settlements are the only
way to ensure security for Israelis.
Israeli Minister of National Security, Itamar Ben Gvir,
stated, "If we don't want another October 7, we must take control of the
area." He also advocated for ‘encouraging voluntary emigration’ of
Palestinians from the strip, echoing previous remarks that elicited strong
criticism from the US and the international community.
Notably, in January, the US State Department stated,
"Gaza is Palestinian land and will remain Palestinian land."
