When the ground invasion began in early November, the Israeli army drove hundreds of thousands of civilians in northern Gaza to the south, which was declared "a safe humanitarian zone," it said in a statement.

These zones were 230 square kilometers, or 63 percent of the total areas of Gaza, including agricultural land and commercial, economic and service facilities with an area of ??120 square kilometers, it said.
