GAZA
— With a fourfold increase in intestinal diseases and a threefold surge in skin
ailments, Adnan Abu Hasna, media advisor and spokesperson for UNRWA, painted a
grim picture of the escalating health crisis in the Gaza Strip. This alarming
surge, particularly concerning as winter sets in, underscores the pressing need
for substantial quantities of clothing, blankets, medicines, and fuel in the
region.

In a
succinct statement on the UNRWA page last Saturday evening, Abu Hasna
highlighted the fear of disease spreading rapidly. Reports of hepatitis further
intensified the gravity of the situation, with potentially serious consequences
due to overcrowding and a dire lack of clean water, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.
Despite
the severity of the health crisis, Abu Hasna pointed out the inadequacy of the
aid reaching the Gaza Strip, deeming it "a drop in the ocean of
humanitarian needs," a stark reality both before and after the temporary
truce.
