A general strike took place across Palestinian governorates on Monday in protest against the ongoing Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, demanding an end to the massacres, bombing of civilian homes, hospitals, and shelters.
The strike, called by national and Islamic forces in the northern governorates, coincided with a global movement urging a worldwide general strike to call for an end to the genocide in Gaza and to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. All sectors of life were paralyzed, with universities, schools, banks, commercial shops, and both governmental and civil institutions closing their doors. There were popular calls for continued resistance against the occupation.
Public transportation in the northern governorates was also halted, and the streets were empty of vehicles and pedestrians. Factories and workshops shut down as well.
Activists on social media had launched calls for a global general strike to express solidarity with the people of Gaza in the face of the Israeli forces' campaign of genocide.
