Hamas announced today, Sunday, its agreement to form a committee of independent national figures to manage the Gaza Strip until elections are held.

In a statement, Hamas called for the immediate start of talks for the second phase of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
The movement stated that its delegation discussed with Egyptian General Intelligence Chief Hassan Mahmoud Rashad in Cairo the ceasefire in Gaza and the agreement to release hostages in exchange for the release of Palestinian prisoners, covering all its stages.
The movement's leadership delegation, according to the statement, expressed its "gratitude and appreciation for the Egyptian efforts in the previous period, especially in confronting displacement plans, as well as its appreciation for the outcomes of the Arab summit, particularly the plan for the reconstruction of Gaza, and affirmed the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people."
According to the statement, the delegation emphasized the "necessity of adhering to all terms of the agreement, the immediate start of the second phase negotiations, the opening of crossings, and the unrestricted entry of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip."
The delegation also confirmed the movement's "agreement to form a community support committee composed of independent national figures to manage the Gaza Strip until Palestinian unity is achieved and general elections are held at all levels: national, presidential, and legislative."
