Hamas: We Are Discussing the "Witkoff" Proposal and Have No Ambition to Govern Gaza
Spokesperson for the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas, Abdul-Latif al-Qanou, stated that the movement is dealing positively with the proposals of the U.S. envoy to the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, and that these proposals are currently being discussed with mediators. However, he emphasized that the main obstacle to reaching an agreement is Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.اضافة اعلان

In his statements on Saturday, al-Qanou added that discussions and communications with mediators have not stopped in order to finalize the agreement, as the Witkoff proposal and other ideas are being debated.

He stressed that the key impediment to the agreement is Netanyahu, and the resumption of the agreement hinges on his stance. Al-Qanou further noted that Netanyahu is prioritizing the survival of his government over the implementation of the agreement and the lives of Israeli prisoners.

The spokesperson also emphasized that any arrangements regarding the administration of the Gaza Strip must be agreed upon by all Palestinian factions. Hamas is ready to cooperate with such arrangements and is interested in being part of them.

Al-Qanou pointed out that Hamas agreed to form a community support committee in Gaza that does not include the movement, adding that Hamas has no ambitions to govern Gaza. The movement is focused on national consensus and is committed to the outcomes of that consensus.

He concluded by saying that the resumption of the war has taken place under American cover and stressed that the Trump administration should not become a party in the conflict but instead exert pressure on the Israeli occupation to return to the ceasefire agreement.
