In an interview with CNN, Sanders affirmed, "What is
happening in
Gaza now is a horrendous humanitarian catastrophe. We are looking
at 23,000 people who have been killed, over 60,000 have been wounded, and
two-thirds of the people killed are women and children. You are looking at 70
percent of the housing units in Gaza that have been destroyed."
Sanders also discussed a resolution that he plans to
introduce. The resolution, aligning with Foreign Assistance Act, stipulates
that if US military aid is provided to any country, it must be used in
accordance with
international human rights standards and US law.
Furthermore, commenting on US strikes on Houthis, he said
that President Joe Biden must immediately inform Congress, as Congress has the
right to declare war and not the President.
