WASHINGTON — On Thursday, the Head of Yemen’s Houthi Supreme Revolutionary Committee, Mohammed Ali Al-Houthi responded on X, formally known as twitter, to the UN Security Council resolution on navigation on the red sea by considering it a “political game”, stating that, "The US is the one violating international law."اضافة اعلان

This comes after the UN Security Council, on Wednesday, approved a resolution demanding an immediate halt to Houthis attacks on ships, implicitly supporting a US-led task force to protect ships, while warning against escalating tensions, Al-Ghad reported.

The draft resolution presented by the US condemns Houthis attacks in the Red Sea and emphasizes the need to protect maritime security. The Security Council also called on the Houthis to release the ship that has been detained since November 19, "Galaxy Leader,” associated with an Israeli businessman, and its crew.

The Security Council adopted the resolution with a majority of 11 votes and no opposition, while four countries abstained from voting.

Furthermore, a US representative at the Security Council, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield stated that adopting a resolution condemning Houthi attacks in the Red Sea would make Iran adhere to its commitments, adding that "Houthi attacks are a threat that will impact even the delivery of aid to the Yemeni people." She noted, "Adopting a resolution against Houthi attacks demonstrates our unity against legal violations."

While the Russian delegate described the adopted resolution as "biased," the British representative in the Security Council stated, "We will not hesitate to take additional measures to protect navigation in the Red Sea."
