AMMAN — The
Human Rights Council convened on Wednesday to discuss the impact of settlements on the rights of the
Palestinian people, as outlined in the report presented by the
High Commissioner for Human Rights, according to Amad news agency.

The report detailed violations of
international law and monitored settlements over the past decade, including the
number of
settlements and settlers in the
West Bank and East Jerusalem,
continued control of land, and expansion of settlements.
The High Commissioner also pointed
to settlers' attacks on public and private property.
War crimesThe report concluded with a series
of recommendations and findings, highlighting settlements as
war crimes according to the law.
Forty-seven countries from all
continents spoke in their national capacity, condemning the settlement policy
in the
occupied Palestinian territory and occupation policy, particularly under
the current government.
The decision to legislate
settlements, cancel the separation decision, and build new settlement units
were also denounced.
Several countries also
condemned the attacks on Palestinian civilians, places of worship, and civil society
institutions, calling on states, groups, and civil society organizations to
pressure the occupying force to stop the settlement policy and escalation against
civilians.
The council also urged for the end
of the blockade imposed on the Gaza Strip.
