NEW YORK – On Sunday, Human Rights Watch (HRW) issued a fervent
call to the international community, urging for sanctions to be imposed on
Israel for purportedly failing to adhere to the International Court of
Justice's (ICJ) directives concerning precautionary measures in Gaza aimed at
preventing genocide, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

According to reports from the Palestinian news agency Wafa,
the HRW underscored the imperative for countries to enforce targeted sanctions
and implement an arms embargo on Israel per the ICJ's binding orders.
The ICJ had previously mandated that Israel undertake all
necessary measures to avert actions that could be construed as genocidal and
ensure that its military refrains from engaging in any acts indicative of
genocide. Furthermore, the court instructed Israel to prevent the dissemination
of any public statements or remarks that might incite genocide within Gaza.
The HRW has lamented what it perceives as Israel's
non-compliance with the court's directives, highlighting alleged shortcomings
in the delivery of essential services and humanitarian aid to the Palestinian
populace in Gaza. The organization asserted that the situation has
deteriorated, citing reduced truck traffic into Gaza and diminished aid
missions reaching northern Gaza post-ruling compared to preceding weeks. These
purported actions, it contends, constitute war crimes, including the alleged
use of starvation as a weapon of war.
In an impassioned plea, the rights watchdog implored other
nations to leverage all available means, including the imposition of sanctions
and embargoes, to exert pressure on Israel to conform to the ICJ's binding
orders in the genocide case. It contends that Israel's purported obstruction of
humanitarian assistance violates international law and exacerbates the dire
predicament faced by Gaza's 2.3 million Palestinians.
