TEL AVIV — Senior Analyst for the Israeli
newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, Nahum Barnea stated that the
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) committed unjustified looting and demolition acts targeting
Palestinian homes in the
Gaza Strip, adding that these practices inflict
tremendous harm on Israel, Khaberni reported.

Barnea pointed out that the IOF’s Chief of
Staff, Herzi Halevi acknowledged that acts of looting have occurred. "The
Chief of Staff ensures, during every visit to the field, to remind commanders
and soldiers of what is not permissible, and he addresses issues like looting,
breaking discipline, and unnecessary writing on walls."
Israeli
analyst cites IOF’s excessive actions in Gaza
In an article for the newspaper, he described a
case where an order was issued to demolish a single house in a neighborhood in
northern Gaza. A senior commander then ordered the destruction of all houses,
not out of necessity, but because he had the authority to do so.
Furthermore, Barnea stated that the decision
to blow up the building of the Legislative Council in Gaza did not please the
IOF General Staff, as it was issued by a field commander without practical
justification, causing significant damage.
Barnea also referred to Israeli occupation
soldiers filming video clips documenting atrocities that could serve as
evidence condemning Israel’s practices.
He mentioned, "An investigator in Unit
504 took a picture while standing on a naked detainee." In another
incident, "An officer was filmed shouting ‘Listen to Israel’ (an Israeli
prayer) while blowing up a mosque."
Notably, Barnea warned that the harm inflicted
on Israel is enormous, noting that some of these videos are being used in the
lawsuit filed by South Africa against Israel in the ICJ.
