GAZA — The Indonesian Rescue and
Medical Emergency Committee "Mercy - Indonesia," responsible for
overseeing the construction and funding of the I
ndonesian Hospital in the Gaza Strip, has firmly rejected the Israeli occupation army's claims regarding the
hospital's alleged ties to Palestinian factions or the use of tunnels beneath
its premises.

During a press conference in the
Indonesian capital, Jakarta, several officials and volunteers from the "Mercy -
Indonesia" committee clarified that the hospital occupies a 1.6-hectare
(equivalent to 10 dunams) site in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza. It consists of
several buildings, with the primary structure being a four-story main building.
Additionally, the hospital features water and fuel tanks, an
ambulance parking
area, and a power generator building.
These officials, including an engineer
who played a key role in the hospital's construction, emphasized that the
hospital's primary mission is to provide assistance and healthcare to those in
need, Khaberni reported.
Under constant threat of bombardment
They pointed out that, much like many
other hospitals in Gaza, this hospital has been under constant threat of
bombardment in recent weeks and has indeed been targeted on multiple occasions.
The areas in proximity to the hospital have also been subjected to airstrikes
by the
Israeli occupation military. In recent times, the hospital has been grappling with
a severe fuel shortage and a dire scarcity of medicines and medical supplies.
Consequently, there is an urgent need to support its dedicated
medical staff.
The hospital, which was
completed in 2015 and serves approximately 400,000 residents, tragically
suffered a direct hit on October 7. A vehicle within the hospital's premises
was specifically targeted, resulting in the tragic loss of two employees.
