GAZA — On Monday, intense Israeli airstrikes and artillery shelling targeted various areas in southern Gaza's Rafah, resulting in the killing and injury of hundreds of Palestinians, including many children and women, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

Medical sources in Rafah reported that over 100 Palestinians were killed, including children and women, with hundreds more injured and arriving at
Rafah hospitals due to heavy Israeli airstrikes on the city.
The
Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) stated that Rafah is witnessing intense Israeli airstrikes, primarily concentrated in the city center, targeting residential homes near the PRCS headquarters.
The director of Kuwait Hospital, Suhaib Al-Hams stated that the hospital is overwhelmed with critically injured patients and lacks sufficient medication and serums.
Local sources also reported that warplanes carried out a series of intense airstrikes, estimated at around 40 airstrikes, targeting numerous houses and mosques sheltering displaced persons, simultaneously with intensive artillery shelling and naval bombardment on Rafah city.
Among the targeted mosques were Al-Rahma Mosque in Shabura and Al-Huda Mosque in Yibna camp, both sheltering dozens of displaced individuals in Rafah, in addition to over 14 residential houses. The Israeli airstrikes also targeted areas near the border with Egypt.
In a press release, Hamas stated that the Israeli attack on Rafah is a continuation of the ‘genocidal war’ and forced displacement attempts carried out by Israel against the Palestinian people.
Estimates indicate approximately 1.4 million citizens in Rafah after the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) forced hundreds of thousands of Palestinians from the northern Gaza Strip to evacuate southward.
On Sunday evening, a Palestinian woman was killed and others injured by Israeli occupation sniper fire inside Nasser Hospital compound in Khan Younis, southern Gaza Strip.
The IOF stated that it carried out a series of strikes on southern Gaza Strip which have now ‘ceased,’ without providing further details. Prior to the previous attacks on Gaza cities, the IOF would request civilians to evacuate without preparing any specific evacuation plan.
Relief organizations warn that any attack on Rafah in the southern part of Gaza Strip would be catastrophic, as it is the last relatively safe place in the sector devastated by the Israeli military campaign.
