Israeli
Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu stated that his government is voting on a
“clarification resolution” regarding Israel’s opposition to any one-sided
declaration of a Palestinian state.
Netanyahu
emphasized that this step comes in response to recent international discussions
about attempting to impose a
Palestinian state on Israel unilaterally.
He
further asserted that the official statement would reflect Israel’s refusal to accept explicit international
dictates concerning a permanent settlement with the Palestinians. According to
Netanyahu, such an arrangement can only be achieved through direct negotiations
between the two parties, without any preconditions.
