Sources from the occupation forces informed an Israeli news outlet that one of the dead Palestinians is the gunman who killed the two settlers driving through Huwara in late February.
The Palestinian Health Ministry said at least 11 people were wounded in the raid, with two in critical condition. One person who was critically wounded was soon declared dead. He was identified as 26-year-old Mohammad Wael Ghazzawi. Five other wounded Palestinians were later pronounced dead.
Another Israeli military operation was conducted at the same time in the Askar refugee camp near Nablus. Palestinians reports said that the occupation forces arrested three people, including two sons of the suspect in the Huwara shooting.
The Jenin Brigades, a group of Palestinian militants from several organizations that operates in the northern West Bank, released a statement saying its militants exchanged gunfire with the Israeli forces.
