GAZA
– On Monday, the
Gaza Municipality confirmed that the Israeli occupation
deliberately bombed, destroyed, and bulldozed the Yarmouk Stadium during its
invasion of the area and turned the stadium into a detention center for
civilians.

The municipality said that the occupation vehicles
bulldozed the stadium’s ground, shelled the stands, destroyed the stadium’s
stores containing sports materials, destroyed and burned all the stadium’s
capabilities, as well as the running track and lighting networks in the
stadium, Al-Ghad reported.
It
added that the stadium was a
facility that civilians resorted to for protection from the occupation’s
bombing of their areas, but the occupation pursued and detained them and
destroyed the stadium.
The
municipality called on human rights organizations, international organizations,
sports bodies, and regional and
international sports federations to condemn Israel’s destruction of the stadium
and to expedite assistance in rebuilding it to protect the sports life in the
city.
