He made these remarks while speaking to journalists in
Ramallah on Saturday, explaining that final demolition notices were recently
issued for a number of schools in Masafer Yatta in Hebron and the Jordan
Valley, intensifying concerns about the students' future in those areas. This
comes in conjunction with the start of the
new academic year today in over 60
schools in the governorates of Ramallah, Al-Bireh, Bethlehem, and East
Jerusalem, while the majority of schools will commence classes on Sunday,
August 19, Shehab News reported.
the head of the
Wall and Settlement Resistance Commission,
Muayyad Shaaban, said that the Israeli authorities have demolished three
schools in the West Bank since the beginning of this year. Shaban stated that
Israel's ongoing targeting of schools represents "a deliberate violation
of the most basic human rights principles that guarantee the
right to education and the right to ensure a healthy childhood." He accused Israel of employing
a "discriminatory planning policy based on racist considerations,"
where building permits are granted without limits to
settlers while
Palestinians are prevented from pursuing their normal lives.
On Friday, the EU condemned the demolition of the
Ein Samiya School in Ramallah by Israeli authorities, which was funded with European
financial support, demanding that "Israel" respect the right of
