AMMAN — Turmus Ayya, a Palestinian village in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate of the West Bank, was attacked by Israel settlers on Wednesday, according to multiple media sources.
The reports highlighted that dozens of Israeli settlers launched an attack on the village, resulting in the destruction of houses, cars, and fields.
The assault led to injuries among Palestinians, with some suffering from smoke inhalation.
Israeli occupation forced failed to intervene, allowing the settlers to fire live ammunition at cars and houses. Moreover, Palestinian civil defense vehicles were obstructed from reaching the village, further escalating the dire situation.
Mayor of Turmus Ayya Laffi Adeeb said “approximately 60 cars and 30 houses were set on fire, and injuries occurred in an attack by around 400 armed settlers from the Shilo settlement on the town of Turmus Ayya”.
It is noteworthy that a significant number of Turmus Ayya residents hold dual citizenship, including US nationality alongside their Palestinian identity.
Situated within the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate in the West Bank, Turmus Ayya is a Palestinian town that has been plagued by ongoing tensions and conflicts. As per data from the Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics, the town had a population of 3,736 residents back in 2007.
