Israeli settlers blow shofar at Jerusalem holy sites

AMMAN — Israeli settlers have begun to blow trumpets (Shofar) when storming Masjid Al-Aqsa.  Raze Obeidat, a Jerusalemite writer and political analyst, said to Palm Strategic Initiatives Center that these trumpets have a symbolic Talmudic and biblical origin and are meant to commemorate a change of the times. The trumpets are also symbolic of the founding of a new temple. Many Muslims and Christians saw these acts as a complete disregard for their holy sites, and their presence and supposed coexistence in Jerusalem. This most recent proclamation seems to be a declaration of intent by the settlers.
