According to a statement by the municipal chief, Sael
Kanaan, the settlement aims to control vast lands and link them to settlements
that have been established for several years in the area.
“Settlers, backed by the [
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF)],
already control around 1,000 dunums of lands in the town,” Kanaan stated. He
added that the land is privately owned by the villagers and they have official
documents for it.
According to Kanaan, there are already five Israeli
settlement outposts established in Burqa.
Continuous IOF raids
on West Bank Palestinians
In related news, the IOF launched a widespread campaign of
raids, searches, and arrests in various parts of the
occupied West Bank, which
in some places included confrontations and clashes.
The IOF arrested 41 Palestinians, who were then transferred
for investigation. The Palestinian Prisoners Society stated that the arrests
were based on charges of involvement in armed resistance against the IOF and
settlers.
The incursions were concentrated in various governorates of
the West Bank, especially in the camps, as a result of
IOF home raids;
searching and damaging dozens of homes. The residents were subjected to field
investigations after being detained for hours.
