According to Lebanese sources, the occupation targeted the town of Tyre in south Lebanon, specifically in the vicinity of the Rashidieh camp for Palestinian refugees.

An Israeli army spokesman said the attack was towards Hamas targets and infrastructure in southern Lebanon. The spokesman said the Israeli army “will not allow Hamas to operate from Lebanon”, and that it “considers Lebanon responsible for everything that comes from its territory”.

The occupation forces said they were targeting sites in response to the firing of dozens of rockets from Lebanon towards northern Israel on Thursday afternoon.

Risk of serious escalationThe United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) said on Friday that Israel and Lebanon "do not want a war", but warned of a serious escalation.

"Early Thursday morning, the Israeli army informed UNIFIL that it would begin an artillery response to yesterday’s rocket launches," UNIFIL said in a statement. Immediately after, UNIFIL personnel heard loud explosions around the city of Tyre.

"The actions over the past day are dangerous and risk a serious escalation. We urge all parties to cease all actions across the Blue Line now."

UNIFIL’s Head of Mission and Force Commander, Major General Aroldo Lázaro, is speaking with authorities on both sides of the Blue Line, according to the statement. “Our liaison and coordination mechanisms are fully engaged," it read.

"The actions over the past day are dangerous and risk a serious escalation," the statement added. "We urge all parties to cease all actions across the Blue Line now."

Occupation attacks on GazaMeanwhile, in the Gaza Strip, Israeli warplanes targeted Palestinian resistance targets in western Gaza and east of Gaza City.

The occupation also targeted agricultural lands east of Al-Zaytoun neighborhood in Gaza City and in the town of Beit Hanoun in the northern Gaza Strip.

The civil defense agency reported the collapse of a house in Wadi Al-Arayes near Al-Shujaia neighborhood east of Gaza City due to the Israeli air raids.

"Our crews are rushing to the scene," the agency had said.

The Palestinian resistance responded by firing anti-aircraft missiles and shooting rockets towards Israeli settlements near the Gaza Strip.
