suspend funding to UNRWA following Israeli accusations of involvement by the
agency’s employees in the events of

Switzerland reportedly stated that it would not pay
this year’s
contributions to UNRWA until it had more information on these
serious allegations.
Meanwhile, Norway announced its intention to continue
funding the agency despite the allegations.
Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Espen Barth Eide
stated, "
UNRWA is a lifeline for almost two million people in Gaza,”
adding, “The people of Gaza urgently need humanitarian assistance.”
UNRWA promptly responded to Israel by terminating the
contracts of the implicated employees and pledging to conduct a comprehensive
investigation, with the
commitment to take legal action if the accusations were
proven true. However, Israel declared its intention to prevent the agency from
continuing its work in the Gaza Strip after the war.
Moreover, the Director-General of the
World Health Organization (WHO), Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged donor agencies not to
suspend financial support for UNRWA.
In a statement on X, formally known as Twitter, he
stated, "We appeal to donors not to suspend their funding for UNRWA at
this critical moment. Cutting off funding will only hurt the people of Gaza who
desperately need support."
