In press statements, the director of
Al-Aqsa Mosque, Sheikh Omar Al-Kiswani, described the announcement by extremist
Jewish groups of their intention to bring animal sacrifices to Al-Aqsa as
"very dangerous".
Kiswani stressed that the Department of
Jerusalem Awqaf and Al-Aqsa Mosque Affairs, along with masses of Palestinians,
will confront this attempt, and “will not allow this to happen”.
"We have stressed this fact to the
occupation authorities, and we demanded
that it curb its extremist settlers," he said.
The far-right
Israeli Temple Organization has also published a statement
calling on settlers to gather at the entrance of Al-Aqsa Mosque on the eve of
the Jewish Passover next Wednesday evening, urging its supporters to bring
sacrificial animals to attempt to slaughter them at night inside Al-Aqsa
complex.
