Power outages aimed at relieving the strain on the grid are known in Kuwait as "scheduled cuts." These cuts occur in some areas during the afternoon, which is the peak consumption period due to the heavy use of air conditioning.
Temperatures in Kuwait, a member of OPEC, have risen by around ten degrees over the past week, reaching approximately 38°C.
The Ministry of Electricity posted on X today that it had started cutting power to "limited parts" of some agricultural areas in Al-Abdali, Al-Rawdatain, and Al-Wafra, as well as some industrial areas in Mina Abdullah, Shuwaikh, Sabhan, Sulaibiya Industrial, and Al-Rai.
Earlier, the ministry mentioned that the power cuts would not exceed three hours daily, if they occur.
