OCCUPIED JERUSALEM – A secret Foreign and Security Committee of the Knesset has revealed widespread confusion and disagreement amongst government members over the war in Gaza, according to a leak by Israeli channel 12 news.  اضافة اعلان

As reported by Khaberni, during the meeting held last Thursday to discuss the future of the war on Gaza, members criticized the Netanyahu led unity government's unclear stances and strategy towards the war.

Member of the "There is a Future" party, Karen Elharar, questioned Minister of Defense Yoav Galant about the Israeli statements declaring the overthrow of Hamas's rule, saying, "What does overthrowing Hamas mean? Let's assume that we have succeeded in eliminating all military wing members, what about the political wing? What is the next plan?"

Galant responded, "It will take a lot of time. We are still in the first stage through aerial attacks and preparations for the ground attack. In the second stage, after the infrastructure of Hamas is destroyed, the fighting will continue at a slower pace.”

Galant added that Israel would attempt to export the management of Gaza to an external force after Hamas was defeated and confirmed that there was little interest in Israel itself bearing that responsibility. Some of the options that have purportedly been discussed is handing the territory over to the Palestinian Authority or “international forces”.

This was met with further dissent when Knesset member Gilad Kariv asked, "Do you want Oslo 2?" While Likud party member Tali Goitein said, "Netanyahu is the prime minister of my government, but he is a coward! He must tell the truth to the public. He is not able to overthrow anything."

According to the Yedioth Ahronoth newspaper, members of the expanded cabinet have expressed frustration about the contradictions in discussions during the sessions, accusing the "war cabinet" of misleading the expanded cabinet.

The cabinet members complained that "the war cabinet's plans for the coming days are very limited, especially regarding continuing the war and the ground attack."
