Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam praised the Lebanese Army on Sunday, highlighting the professional work carried out by the armed forces in the south—particularly the Intelligence Directorate—which successfully conducted a preemptive operation that thwarted preparations for launching rockets from southern Lebanon, in addition to arresting several individuals involved in the plot.

In remarks reported by the Lebanese National News Agency, Prime Minister Salam also commended “all security agencies performing their duties to preserve security and stability across all Lebanese territories.” He called on them “to continue all efforts to prevent any reckless acts by focusing on preemptive security measures to foil suspicious plans aiming to drag the country into further conflicts.”
Salam affirmed that “the work being done by the army and other security agencies confirms the government’s commitment to implementing its ministerial statement by fully asserting its sovereignty over Lebanon. The state alone has the authority to decide on matters of war and peace, and is the only entity authorized to possess weapons.”
