AMMAN — According to unnamed sources Palestinian President
Mahmoud Abbas now believes that Marwan Al-Barghouti, a member of the Fatah
Central Committee and of the Palestinian Legislative Council could be his
successor.

According to sources, Abbas is now seeking reconciliation
between the current Fatah leadership and leaders of the Barghouti camp within
the movement, i24 News reported.
One source added that Abbas has made it clear that Barghouti
might be the most suitable figure to push the Palestinian cause onto the
international agenda.
The same source highlighted that security leaders close to
the Palestinian president might be ready to accept this reality would soon need
and contacts are expected to begin to those affiliated with the Barghouti
movement.
The source believed that Barghouti for president may put
Israel in a corner with the international community since he has been in an
Israeli prison since 2002.
