On Wednesday evening the
Moroccan monarch, Mohammed VI,
invited Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu to visit Morocco in a warm
personal message thanking Netanyahu for Israel’s recognition of Morocco’s
sovereignty over the Sahara, saying “the visit will open new horizons for
enhancing
relations between our two countries.”

The message said, “Your Excellency the Prime Minister, I am
pleased to express to you my sincere thanks and great appreciation for your
message in which you informed me of the decision of the
State of Israel to
recognize the sovereignty of the Kingdom of Morocco over its Sahara and to
positively consider opening a consulate for your country in the city of
Dakhla.”
The chief of staff of the Israeli Army,
Tzachi Hanegbi, and
Moroccan foreign minister, Nasser Bourita, agreed on Wednesday evening to
coordinate a near date for the first visit of the Israeli Prime Minister to
Morocco.
