OCCUPIED JERUSALEM — The mother of Israeli captive, Sergeant
Ron Sherman who was killed in Gaza accused the
Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF)
of killing her son after the IOF failed to confirm the cause of death of the
two Israeli captives, Sherman and Nick Baizer, as confirmed in a statement,
Quds Press reported.

On Tuesday, according to the Israeli newspaper Jerusalem
Post, representatives of the IOF reached the families of the captive soldiers
to inform them of the results related to the circumstances of their deaths.
The IOF retrieved their bodies from a tunnel affiliated with
Al-Qassam Brigades in Jabalia on December 14, 2023. Near the location of their
bodies, the IOF attacked a tunnel where a senior member of Hamas, Ahmed
Al-Ghandour, was killed.
Sherman's mother
posted a statement accusing the IOF of mistakenly
killing her son. According to
her, the IOF filled the tunnel where he was held with gas, leading to her son's
poisoning, claiming that Ron tried to inhale air but only breathed in the gas.
Furthermore, she alleged finding that he also had several crushed fingers,
apparently due to his desperate attempts to escape the poisonous grave the IOF
buried him in.
She added, "There is no future for this country if this
is what they did to him after abandoning him that Saturday. What would the
decision have been if Bibi's son was in the tunnel or
Gallant's grandson? Or
Herzi Halevi's son? Would they have been poisoned with gas bombs too?"
According to a statement from the IOF, the autopsy report
shows no signs of injury or gunshot wounds on the bodies of the captives.
Therefore, they were not killed as a direct result of the attack, pointing out
that, "Samples were taken for further toxicological tests, which may
reveal more details later."
