Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated during the inauguration of the new Chief of Staff of the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF), Eyal Zamir, that Israel is "determined to achieve victory" following a devastating war that erupted after the unprecedented Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, which expanded across multiple fronts.
Addressing Zamir, Netanyahu said, "A very great responsibility rests on your shoulders," adding, "The results of this war will have an impact for generations, and we are determined to achieve... victory."
Meanwhile, the new Israeli Defense Minister threatened to return to war "with violence" if Hamas does not release the prisoners held in Gaza.
