TEL AVIVIsraeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ruled out a temporary ceasefire despite growing Western pressure for a humanitarian pause. In a meeting on Friday with U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken alongside President Isaac Herzog and the war cabinet, Netanyahu stated after the meeting that Israel is continuing with "all of its power" and "refuses a temporary ceasefire that does not include a return of our hostages."اضافة اعلان

Meanwhile, Blinken continued with the U.S. stance that Israel has a right to defend itself but also urged that Israel do "everything possible to ensure the protection of Palestinian civilians."

He said, "We stand strongly for the proposition that Israel has not only the right but the obligation to defend itself and to do everything possible to make sure that this October 7th can never happen again."

He continued by saying, "At the same time, as you've just made clear, how Israel does this matters. It is very important that when it comes to the protection of civilians who are caught in the crossfire of Hamas's making, everything be done to protect them and to bring assistance to those who so desperately need it and who are not in any way responsible for what happened on October 7th."

A visibly shaken Blinken also stated, "When I see the children of Gaza as dismembered bodies being pulled from under the rubble, I see my own children...That's why there must be a humanitarian ceasefire quickly."
