TEL AVIV — On
Saturday, the Office of Israeli Prime Minister
Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated
his longstanding position on the necessity of maintaining full Israeli security
control over the
Gaza Strip, Amad reported.

In a statement, Netanyahu’s office denied the US reports
suggesting that during a call with US President Joe Biden, Netanyahu stated
that he does not rule out the establishment of a Palestinian state.
According to a source from CNN,
Netanyahu clarified to Biden
that his statements on Thursday rejecting the idea of establishing a
Palestinian state were not intended to rule out the possibility of its
establishment in any form. The source added that in a ‘detailed and serious’
conversation, Biden and Netanyahu discussed the possible features of a future
Palestinian state.
Furthermore, the source mentioned that officials in the
Biden administration have recently discussed the possibility of establishing a
future Palestinian state without arms, an idea that Biden finds interesting.
