More Than 1.4 Million Syrians Return to Their Areas

The United Nations reported that nearly 400,000 Syrian refugees have returned from neighboring countries since the fall of the Assad regime on December 8. Additionally, over 1 million internally displaced people have returned to their regions within Syria, bringing the total number of returnees to more than 1.4 million.

The UNHCR expects that the summer season could be a critical window for voluntary returns, especially with the academic year ending. However, it warns that lack of funding may force many returnees to flee once again due to the shortage of essential services.
