A Palestinian citizen was martyred early this Tuesday morning after Israeli soldiers opened live fire on a commercial shop in Qalqilya, in the northern West Bank.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society confirmed in a statement the martyrdom of Bara' Youssef Maskawi, who was shot by Israeli forces in Qalqilya, before his body was detained. The Society also reported the injury of other citizens.
Special Israeli units, followed by military reinforcements, had stormed the city from its eastern and northern entrances, raided the "Al-Naqar" neighborhood, and surrounded a commercial shop in the western area, where the martyr was present. They used loudspeakers to demand that he surrender.
The Israeli forces fired heavily towards the besieged shop, followed by the launching of "Anirja" shells, until Maskawi was martyred and his body was detained. The martyr was a former prisoner, released at the end of last year after serving 22 months in detention.
