However, the outcome was met with skepticism as key demands
were not met, leaving parties uncertain about the potential implications.
The decision was announced by
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at the conclusion of a meeting held in Al-Alamein, Egypt. During the
gathering, President Abbas urged the factions to collaboratively address a wide
array of critical issues. The ultimate goal is to bring an end to the prolonged
political divide that has plagued Palestinians and to achieve a unified front,
Ammon News reported.
Calling for immediate action, President expressed hope that
the group would convene again on Egyptian soil soon, to announce to the
Palestinian people the momentous achievement of ending the internal discord and
reclaiming national unity.
Challenges persist, as certain factions boycotted the
meeting, and the Islamic Jihad's demand for the release of its members held by
Palestinian security forces was not met. During the meeting,
Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh called for an end to security coordination with Israel and
advocated for comprehensive resistance against the occupation's actions.
While some Palestinians celebrated the progress made, others
emphasized the importance of taking concrete actions.
