GAZA — The Palestinian Minister of
Communications and Information Technology,
Ishaq Sider, stated that the
ministry has received promises to open roaming on Egyptian networks for
Palestinian communication SIM cards, Al-Mamlaka TV reported.

He noted that even if roaming is open on
Egyptian networks, coverage may only reach the outskirts of Khan Yunis. He
affirmed that the best solution is to restart the Palestinian networks with the
necessary repairs and secure safe paths for the communication crews.
Seder also mentioned that the
International Telecommunication Union informed them that there has been a slight progress
regarding the entry of Thuraya mobile networks international institutions
working in the sector.
He pointed out that work on this matter has
been ongoing for more than 20 days with no progress on the ground. In case the
devices enter, they will be used at specific points for international
institutions.
Seder had stated earlier that communication
and internet services would completely stop in the
Gaza Strip on Thursday due
to the depletion of fuel, contributing to deepening the humanitarian
catastrophe. This situation would hinder citizens' ability to communicate with
emergency, relief, and rescue services.
