The poll, which explored voters’ responses to Trump’s comments on the US potentially acquiring areas like the Panama Canal, Greenland, Canada, and Gaza, showed widespread opposition to such proposals.
After being informed that the US would need to forcibly resettle 1.8 million Palestinians from Gaza to neighboring countries, 64 percent of respondents voiced opposition to the idea.
Democrats were particularly strong in their opposition, with 85 percent against the plan, while 63 percent of Independents also opposed it. Republicans were more divided, with 46 percent supporting the proposal and 43 percent opposing it.
The survey results suggest that Trump’s plan to take control of Gaza has sparked a significant backlash among voters, with strong opposition across political lines, particularly in the context of forcibly resettling Palestinians. The findings also reflect growing resistance to the idea of US military intervention to enforce such a plan.
According to the report, these results underscore the unpopularity of President Trump’s vision for global territorial expansion, particularly in Gaza and Canada.
