Protesters storm Swedish Embassy in Baghdad over Quran burning

BAGHDAD — In a protest against the burning of Quran in Sweden, hundreds of protesters stormed the Swedish embassy in Baghdad in the early hours of Thursday morning, a source and witness reported. اضافة اعلان

The source said no embassy staff had been harmed and declined to elaborate further, Reuters reported. Online videos showed demonstrators at the diplomatic post waving flags and signs as well as dozens of men climbing over the fence at the complex, The Guardian reported. 

Iraq’s foreign ministry condemned the attack and said it would conduct an urgent investigation, while Sweden called the attack on the embassy a serious violation of the Vienna convention, calling on the Iraqi authorities to protect diplomatic missions and staff.
