GAZA —
Israeli experts have described the press conference held by the recently
released hostage as a "disaster for Israel and a boon for Hamas."
They have criticized the decision to put
Yochved Lifshitz in front of the
cameras, noting that international media is now highlighting Hamas's "good
treatment" of the hostages.

The cameras were a mistake
The Israeli
public broadcasting agency, "Kan," quoted Israeli PR experts who
described Lifshitz’s decision to face the cameras as a "mistake."
They mentioned that international media is now
emphasizing Hamas's
"kindness in attending to the hostages' needs,” Sky News Arabia reported.
A victory for Hamas
In the
"Israel Hayom" newspaper, writer Edy Rothstein characterizes the
interview as a "propaganda victory for Hamas." He states, "What
a brave and enlightened woman, the kind we thought no longer existed in Israel.
What an inept handling of the event... You don't need to be a PR expert to know
that a live press conference on television is not the way to go."
Any sensible person should understand
that the medical care she received was intended to keep bargaining chips alive.
On the other
hand, Dafna Liel from Channel 12 expressed that what Fischitz described about
Hamas's treatment remains "extremely shocking." She adds, "Any
sensible person should understand that the medical care she received was
intended to keep bargaining chips alive, not out of the goodness of their
hearts."
Channel
reporter Dana Vais labeled the press conference as a "catastrophe."
Lifshitz, the elderly Israeli who was released by Hamas late Tuesday night
stated during the press conference after undergoing medical examinations at a
Tel Aviv hospital that the militants provided her with protection, a doctor for
treatment, and the same medicine she had been receiving in Israel.
Lifshitz, 85
years old, was one of two women released by Hamas late yesterday, bringing the
total number of people still held by the group to 220. She mentioned that a
doctor visited her and ensured that she and the other detainees received the
same medication they had been taking in Israel.
