MOSCOW — The Russian
news agency "Interfax" reported a statement by
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in which he expressed serious concerns about the
potential transformation of the Gaza conflict into a regional one. Lavrov also
noted that Russia is in contact with Turkey regarding this matter and stressed
that attempts to lay blame on Iran for the
Gaza crisis are highly provocative.

In his statement to reporters on Thursday, Lavrov further
elaborated: "As for the Gaza Strip, the risk of this crisis escalating
into a regional conflict is extremely grave,” Al Ghad reported.
Iranian leadership maintains a responsible and
relatively balanced state
He went on to say, "We've observed persistent efforts to
attribute blame to Iran for various issues, which we consider wholly provocative.
I believe that the Iranian leadership maintains a responsible and relatively
balanced stance, calling for the prevention of this
conflict from spreading to
the entire region and neighboring countries."
The possibility of a regional, or even global
war
Predicting a Broader Regional Conflict, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy
Chairman of the Russian Security Council, highlighted the possibility of the
Palestinian-Israeli conflict escalating into a regional, or even global, war.
He emphasized that the ultimate solution lies in establishing a fully
recognized Palestinian state with all its rights. Medvedev, in his article
published in the newspaper "Izvestia," argued that war is
characterized by brutality and lacks rules; it is driven by terror, ideology,
and the excessive use of force against civilians. As people say today, both
sides have heightened their aggression."
Medvedev pointed out that the ongoing situation in Palestine and
Israel is a cause for concern and linked it to the fact that wars often share
similar underlying causes and can escalate unpredictably. He stressed that the
conflict is not a new one and has every potential to evolve into a
comprehensive regional war. Given the current unfavorable conditions, he warned
that the world could face a global conflict.
