According to
Al Jazeera correspondent, Tareq Abu Azzoum, “He was only just planning to reunite with his family members after the war, because he was forced to evacuate them from the territory, and he was in daily contact with them.”
Since October 7, Daqqa courageously utilized his camera to document Israel's war on Gaza, as foreign journalists were barred from entering. On Friday, while documenting an Israeli strike on a UN school sheltering Palestinian civilians, he and Al Jazeera correspondent Wael Al Dahdouh were injured. Dahdouh received medical attention, but Daqqa, critically injured, could not move independently.
Despite efforts to coordinate with the PRCS for rescuers, continuous Israeli shelling persisted for over five-and-a-half hours as Abu Daqqa bled. Civil Defense Crew member Rami Badir lost his life trying to retrieve Daqqa.
Azzoum added tat, “He was a very professional human being who was very passionate and very ambitious…now he is in a better place.”
