Abbas is expected to be accompanied by the Minister of Civil
Affairs of the Palestinian Authority, Hossein Al-Sheikh, and the head of the
PA's intelligence, Majed Faraj.
The visit is scheduled to take place from Monday to
Wednesday, according to an Israeli media outlet.
Meeting with HamasEarlier on Sunday, it was reported that Saudi Arabia was
hosting a senior delegation from Hamas.
Saudi Arabia has previously severed relations with Hamas.
Recent developments in the region suggest that Hamas is
pushing for a rapprochement with Saudi Arabia. The move is seen as an attempt
by Hamas to stall Israel's efforts to expand normalization agreements with Arab
states.
Hamas is supported by Iran, which has recently restored ties
with Saudi Arabia.
